August 2012
Dear Kv/Quanbecks,
It gives me great pleasure to invite you to the 2013 Kv/Quanbeck Family Reunion at Okoboji Lutheran Bible Camp! I hope you will come so I can brag about you to our staff members and so my girls can get to know more of their family. I have always been (just a little) proud and (very) thankful to have been born into this Quanbeck family, and it is a privilege to have such a tremendous family coming here for the 2013 family reunion. Please plan now to attend!
We are located on West Lake Okoboji, which is often considered one of three blue-water lakes in the world, along with Lake Geneva in Switzerland and Lake Louise in Canada. West Okoboji covers 3, 850 acres. It has a maximum depth of 134 feet. Subterranean springs help provide the cool, clear, blue water of Iowa’s most popular lake.
Okoboji Lutheran Bible Camp specializes in Family Camps in the summer. All rooms and cabins have their own bathrooms and are air conditioned, which most adults appreciate. Kids enjoy our playgrounds, the tire swing, gymnasium, game room and of course the beach. The camp offers one of the best swimming beaches on the lake, as well as paddleboats, canoes and rowboats for your use. We have fishing poles available. Just last Saturday my 3-year-old daughter Anna and I were fishing for an hour from the dock. After she caught 5 and I caught 0, she remarked, “Daddy, I would be happy to teach you how to fish.” Maybe Anna would be willing to teach more of you, too. More than 47 species of fish can be found in West Lake, with approximately 11 species of popular sport fish. In addition, a pontoon can be available for tours of the lake. Rental opportunities in the area include snorkeling, scuba, jet-skis, wakeboards, water-skis, parasail and much more. You are also welcome to bring your own boat or watercraft. Popular activities include biking, running or rollerblading on the trail system around the Iowa Great Lakes.
I could share much more about the area and about the camp, but of course your main attraction is this great faithful and talented Quanbeck Family. We’re stoic Norwegians, of course, so we cannot be too proud, but we do have a rich heritage. I hope you’ll come to be a part of this great reunion in 2013, for your sake and for the sake of the rest of the family. We’ll have a tremendous weekend together!
I look forward to seeing you next July! Please help your committee by registering early!
Sincerely,
Rod, along with Cryss, Emily and Anna Quanbeck
